Places in and around Ashbourne where you can get food and drink. This is not an exhaustive list, but places that we have visited and dined at.
Cafés
- The Tunnel Café, 43 Church St, Ashbourne DE6 1AJ – opens from 10am-3.30pm (4.30 at weekends), is very small, does takeaways, and also has seating on the road but does do a decent English Breakfast.
- The Flower Café, 5 Market Place, Ashbourne, DE6 1EU – good for a light bite and does traditional oatcakes too.
- Bramhalls Deli & Café, 22 Market Place, DE6 1ES – another good place for a light bite with a deli.
- Manifold Tea Rooms, Ilam Hall country park, national trust café

Pubs
- The Royal Oak Inn, Mayfield Road, Mayfield, DE6 2BN – provides food and has a burger night on Thursdays which are well worth it, but you should book in advance! You can walk to the pub from the house by either following the road round or using the public footpaths across the fields.
- The Stepping Stones, DE6 1AY (by Aldi) provides food, it’s not too expensive but is good if you don’t want to walk too far!
- The Greenman 10 St John St, Ashbourne DE6 1GH has amazing food at the upper end of the price scale, well worth it if you are celebrating!
- Market Place Fish and Chips, 7 Market Place, Ashbourne. Tiny little shop tucked away in the corner of Market Place.
- The George and Dragon, 43 Market Place, Ashbourne. Traditional pub food with a nice atmosphere.
- The Bowling Green Inn, 2 North Avenue, Ashbourne. A nice family pub serving traditional pub food.
- The Oakover Arms is in Mappleton, about a half hour walk away, does good food and a carvery on Sunday.
- The Shoulder of Mutton in Osmaston, is another place for Sunday lunch, you can’t book here. You can walk here or drive and go for a walk around the village and Osmaston Park afterwards.
